Fr Dermot Casey

Fr Dermot Casey, an ordained priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane was charged in 2013 and 2014, and during the criminal prosecutions, Fr Dermot Casey died on 21 August 2014 as Father Dermot Casey.   Fr Dermot Casey retired from parish work in 1996, and

Fr Dermot Casey was placed in the following parishes in the Brisbane archdiocese:

  • Cannon Hill (St Oliver Plunkett's) in the late 1960s;

  • Beenleigh (St Patrick's) in the 1970s; and

  • Salisbury (St Pius X) in the 1980s.

  • Lavarack Barracks in Townsville, in 1991

He further spent time in around 1970 in Vietnam as a military chaplain for Australian soldiers. 

It is reported that many of his offences of child sexual abuse occurred on his boat, a yacht that he kept on the Queensland Coast.
