Brother Malcolm Hall

Brother Malcolm Hall was a former member of the Marist Brothers who was born on 12 November 1925 as Philip Stanley Hall. He taught/served at various schools around Australia including the following:

  • Marist Brothers’ Agricultural College - Mt. Gambier (up to 1956);

  • Saint Dominic’s School - Parkes, NSW (1957 and 1958);

  • Red Bend Catholic College - Forbes, NSW (1959 to 1961); and

  • Marist- Sion College - Warragul, Victoria (1962 to 1966).

In the late 1990s, various former students of Marist- Sion College in Warragul reported to Victoria Police that they were sexually abused by Brother Malcolm at the School. Subsequently, he was charged in 1998 with multiple sex-crimes (including digital penetration) involving both male and female students. He was scheduled to appear in the Magistrates Court in Warragul in late 1998, but shortly before the court day, Brother Malcolm suddenly died. Since his death, other victims have made further allegations against Brother Malcolm involving both physical and sexual abuse.
