Father Robert McNeill

Royal Commission records show that Father Robert Alban McNeill was born 6 June 1927 and died in 2009. Father McNeill was ordained as a priest on 19 July1952 and went on to serve in the Archdiocese of Sydney and the Diocese of Broken Bay at the following parishes/locations (amongst others that have been redacted by the Royal Commission):

  • Panania;

  • Woy Woy;

  • Berowra;

  • Brooklyn; and

  • St John of God Hospital, Richmond.

Father McNeill retired from service in approximately 1990.

Royal Commission records also report that the Archdiocese of Sydney received and settled allegations in relation to Father McNeill on three occasions:

  • Claim received in 2004 for alleged abuse between 1979 to 1985 of which the claimant settled the matter through civil litigation;

  • Claim made in 1997 for alleged abuse between 1956 to 1966 of which the claimant settled the matter through direct negotiation with the Archdiocese; and

  • Claim made in 2014 for alleged abuse in 1953 of which the claimant settled the matter through direct negotiation with the Archdiocese.
