Marist Brothers Penshurst

Marist Brothers Penshurst was established on 27 January 1953 due to Marist College Kogarah unable to accommodate any longer students from the Penshurst area. The school today is known as Marist Catholic College Penshurst and it is co-educational, accommodating approximately 900 students.

Like many other Marist Brothers schools, Marist Brothers Penshurst has been involved with allegations of child sexual abuse in the past. The school has been the home to many perpetrators including the following:

Brother Kostka, in particular, was a well known offender who throughout his service as a teacher and principal with the Marist Brothers, abused numerous students at Marist schools in Queensland, New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory.

In 2008, Brother Kostka was convicted of 19 child sex offences against six former students during 1985 to 1989. He pleaded guilty and was consequently jailed for two years in 2009 and served a further year of periodic detention.

Moody Law has represented clients in the past who have made allegations of sexual abuse against Brother Kostka and against other members of the Marist Brothers at numerous schools and institutions.

We invite former students, past teachers, and parents to tell us confidentially what information they may have, and we will explain what options are available to help with these cases.
