Father Michael McArdle

Father Michael Joseph McArdle was a priest in the Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton.  He was born in 1935 and was ordained as a priest in 1962 when he was 27 years old. Father McArdle retired from the Diocese ministry in 1988 and was monitored to ensure he was not involved in any way with young people. Information passed on to Moody Law indicate that Father McArdle is deceased.

Allegations of abuse by the then Father McArdle have come from Mackay, Longreach, Biloela, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Monto, Gin Gin and Fraser Island where he served in the 1970s and 1980s. He pleaded guilty to indecently dealing with two girls and 14 boys aged 8 to 13 years old between January 1965 and June 1987 while he was a priest under the Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton. Father McArdle was jailed for six years in 2004. In the same year, Father McArdle made an affidavit stating he had confessed 1500 times to 30 different priests about molesting children over a 25 year period.

Moody Law has acted and is still acting for a number of victims who have made allegations of sexual abuse against Father McArdle in their claims for compensation against the Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton.
