Father Michael Endicott

Father Michael Ambrose Endicott is an Australian Catholic priest and was a member of the Augustinian Order. Born in 1944, Father Endicott was in charge of pastoral care and religious education at Villanova College, Brisbane during the 1970s. Villanova College was established by the Augustinian Fathers in 1948 and has been situated on its present site at Coorparoo, Brisbane since 1954. In 2010, Father Endicott was convicted for offences allegedly committed in the 1970s against schoolboys at Villanova College. It is alleged that as an authoritative figure in the school, Father Endicott used his authority and ordered a boy to pose for a naked photograph while on an excursion in bushland and at a bell tower on another occasion. It is reported that on 25 June 2010, Chief Magistrate Brendan Butler gave Endicott a one-year jail sentence (wholly suspended). In March 2019, Father Endicott was found guilty again for a similar offence to that of 2010, but he successfully appealed in April 2019 against the conviction. His conviction and jail sentence were subsequently overturned.
