St Stanislaus College, Bathurst

St Stanislaus' College is an independent Roman Catholic secondary day and boarding school for boys, located in Bathurst, in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia, 200 kilometres west of Sydney. The school was founded in 1867 and since 1889 it has operated under the Vincentian congregation.

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has identified 29 claims of child sexual abuse against St Stanislaus College. All these incidents occurred between 1966 and 1991. This figure represented 59 per cent of all claims received by the Vincentian congregation in Australia.  Consequently, this had led in the prosecution and conviction of numerous priests, teachers and employees of the school. This includes (amongst others) former dorm master Rick McPhilamy; Father Brian Joseph Spillane; Father Kevin Francis Phillips; Brother John Francis Gavin; Father Glenn Michael Humphreys; Father Guy Hartcher; Stephen Joseph Wade; Peter John Ryan; Brother William Stanley Irwin; and Father Charles Alfred Barnett.

Moody Law has represented in the past and is still representing clients who were sexually and physically abused when they were students at this school. We invite former students, teachers and parents to contact us to tell us confidentially what information they may have, and we will explain what options are available to help with these cases.
